From Ideation to Finalization

Follow along ASAP’s map to making design magic.

Ideate

Every project is sparked by an idea. I am a passionate observer and draw inspiration from things I see, hear, think and feel everyday. This observation informs empathetic design practices.

Understand

The best way to develop relevant and effective solutions is by asking the important questions! This step includes market analysis, developing audience profiles, identifying pain points and visual research.

Define

Write it out! Craft a design brief that clearly describes the objective and scope. This step answers essential questions, describes any restrictions, specifies project goals and informs creative strategy.

Explore

Get curious! How many ways are there to solve the problem? This is where ideas shift from expected to magical. I love embracing the freedom to explore different solutions and try new things. Mind mapping and sketching are my preferred methods.

Create

Start making! In my sketchbook I draft logos, graphic elements, layouts, page schematics, wireframes and generate copy. Once I get my ideas out on paper, I translate them digitally.

Critique

Talk. Test. Try again! Showing work to new eyes and gathering constructive criticism elevates ideas. When I’m working, I like to collect feedback from people close to and far from the project to gather different perspectives.

Repeat

Create again, again and again. An iterative process allows me to work through all of the kinks of the problem to deliver the most effective solution.

Finalize

Voilà! After critiquing and recreating, design magic is made. Engaging in an intentional process creates intentional work— add a dash of the unexpected, and magic begins to brew.
